"The challenge of playing Islington is not obvious from the tee. Many of the tee shots appear open and accommodating, but if the player finds themselves on the wrong side of the fairway, the approach shots become harder to execute.

Once they reach the green, they find what makes Islington GC a great golf course. The greens are steep, firm and fast, which places a higher premium on the approach shots and putting.

Higher handicaps can still run the ball onto the front as Stanley Thompson intended, but rounds are definitely made or lost on those rolling greens."
