Hole #1

This short, straightforward par 4 is a wonderful way to start your round at Islington. As Stanley Thompson noted, opening holes should be approachable, and this one fits perfectly with a generous, tree-lined fairway. Take note on your approach, however, as the wrong plateau can quickly turn an easy start into a difficult two-putt.

Hole #2

A scoring opportunity on this par 5, but precision is key. A well-placed tee shot avoiding the fairway bunker to the right provides the chance to go for the green in two. If unsuccessful in finding the fairway, avoiding pine trees down the left and a tightening tree line to the right makes the layup on this hole a challenge.
 

Hole #3

A tee shot to the left side of the fairway provides the best angle into the green. Distance control is critical, with bunkers guarding front and back, and long shots risking out of bounds.
 

Hole #4

The first par 3 is one of the more demanding tests on the front nine. A large, tiered green is well protected by bunkers, and shots played long leave a difficult recovery on a surface that slopes back to front.
 

Hole #5

This par 5 requires both power and placement. A strong drive down the left side opens up the hole, while the approach demands careful positioning on a green sloping from front left to back right.
 

Hole #6

Short par 3s were a key part of Stanley Thompson’s designs, and this hole is no exception. While modest in length, wind and elements can make club selection a challenge, and a two-putt is never guaranteed.
 

Hole #7

Don’t let the look from the tee fool you, this hole provides a challenge throughout. With trouble right and trees lining the left, accuracy is key, while a two-tiered green adds to the difficulty on approach.
 

Hole #8

A short par 4 that offers the temptation to go for the green off the tee. The “top hat” green is one of the most challenging on the course, with bunkers and sharp contours requiring precision on every shot.
 

Hole #9

Shaping your tee shot from left to right will serve you well on this uphill par 4. A strong drive sets up a good approach, but deep bunkers and a false front demand accuracy to finish the front nine.
 

Hole #10

The signature par 3 features an elevated tee shot into a valley green, with Mimico Creek running along the right. Safer shots to the left still face bunkers and mounds, making this a demanding test.
 

Hole #11

The longest hole on the course presents a true strategic challenge. Players can choose a safer route or take on a more aggressive line to try and reach the green in two, bringing risk into play.
 

Hole #12

While not the longest, the valley lining the right side adds pressure off the tee. The redesigned green introduces additional challenge, where subtle slopes can quickly lead to three-putts.
 

Hole #13

One of the most demanding par 4s on the course, requiring two strong shots. A shaped tee shot is followed by a long approach into a partially blind green with little margin for error.
 

Hole #14

After the challenge of 13, this par 5 appears more forgiving but still demands attention. Fairway bunkers and a blind second shot lead to a green with distinct sections, where proper placement creates scoring opportunities.
 

Hole #15

This par 3 plays to a green sloping back to front, guarded by bunkers and a false front. A well-struck iron can use the contours to feed toward the pin.
 

Hole #16

A dramatic downhill tee shot is followed by a demanding uphill approach. Distance control is critical, as both short and long misses leave difficult recovery shots.
 

Hole #17

Precision is required from tee to green. A well-placed drive offers a partial view of the flag, leading to a blind approach onto a subtly contoured green.
 

Hole #18

A strong finishing hole with the clubhouse in view. With Mimico Creek lining the right side, this par 4 features no bunkers, yet still demands accuracy and focus to close out the round.
